Olympic Boulevard + Museum of Tomorrow Tour
Description
Embark on a journey to explore the heritage of Rio 2016 through the Olympic Boulevard and immerse yourself in the renowned scientific displays at the Museum of Tomorrow, the top attraction in Brazil.
Tour of Olympic Boulevard and Museum of Tomorrow
Following your hotel pickup in Rio de Janeiro, we will travel together to the Valongo Wharf area via minibus. This historic location, known as 'Little Africa' from 1850 to 1920, was a hub for freed slaves from diverse nations. This rich cultural blend is showcased in the nearby Etnias Mural, a vast artwork by artist Eduardo Kobra that represents Brazil's multicultural identity; it holds the title for the world's largest graffiti mural at 560 feet.
As we proceed, we’ll arrive at Mauá Square and Olympic Boulevard, where you’ll uncover fascinating details regarding the legacy of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. One of the highlights is the striking building by architect Santiago Calatrava, the Museum of Tomorrow. Here, we’ll delve into enlightening exhibitions about our planet and the universe.
Adjacent to the Museum of Tomorrow lies the San Benito Monastery, where we will admire Mannerist artwork that illustrates Rio's colonial past. This historical narrative continues at 15th November Square, a date cherished by Brazilians, marking the declaration of the Republic.
To conclude our journey, we will visit the esteemed Confeitaria Colombo, a famous café recognized for its stunning Art Nouveau design (please note this venue is closed on Sundays).
After about 4 hours of exploration, we will return you to your hotel in Rio de Janeiro.
