Tour Overview

Our adventure will begin early in the morning as we gather at your accommodation in Rio. We'll embark on a scenic bus ride lasting approximately 2 hours, taking us to Petrópolis, situated 68 km (42 mi) away from the city.

Upon arrival, a guided tour awaits, showcasing the emblematic landmarks of this historical city, which served as the summer retreat for the royal family during the 19th century. This elegant site was constructed under the direction of Dom Pedro II, honoring his father, Dom Pedro I.

Our exploration will include the Imperial Museum, the former abode of the Brazilian Imperial Family, where we'll delve into its various rooms and admire attire, furniture, and jewelry from the Orleans and Braganza lineage.

We will also visit remarkable attractions such as the Crystal Palace, a beautiful iron and glass edifice known for the emancipation of the city’s last slaves in 1888. Additionally, we’ll take in the sights of São Pedro Cathedral and the grand Quitandinha Palace, recognized as the largest palace in Brazil and one of the most significant in Latin America.

Following our deep dive into Brazilian history, you’ll have free time for a lunch break and the opportunity to wander among the city’s refined architecture before we head back to Rio de Janeiro. The entire day trip lasts around 10 hours.

For those interested, there's an option that includes lunch. Should you choose this, a delicious buffet-style meal will be enjoyed at the conclusion of our Petrópolis tour, providing a perfect chance to recharge.

Additionally, you can enhance your lunch-inclusive experience by adding a beer tasting at the historic Bohemia Brewery, established in 1853 by German entrepreneur Henrique Kremer, where you'll uncover the secrets of Brazil's first Pilsner beer.

The tour entails pickup from hotels located in the South Zone (including Leblon, Ipanema, Copacabana, Leme, and Botafogo) in Rio de Janeiro. If you are lodged elsewhere, please communicate this to us so alternative arrangements can be made.
