Municipal Theatre & National Library Itinerary

This tour highlights two of the most significant cultural establishments in Brazil. We will commence at the Municipal Theatre, an extraordinary venue that has welcomed numerous esteemed performers from both Brazil and abroad. Interestingly, it is the only location in Brazil that maintains its own choir, symphony orchestra, and ballet.

Continuing, we will head to the National Library, which stands as the largest library in Latin America, hosting a collection of nearly 9 million unique books and manuscripts. As we navigate through its halls, we will uncover the rich history of Brazil.

Municipal Theatre & Royal Portuguese Reading Room Itinerary

This experience begins with a visit to the Municipal Theatre, which has held a prestigious position in Brazil's artistic scene since its opening in 1909. This venue has preserved its creative autonomy since the 1930s, showcasing its own choir, orchestra, and ballet company.

Following this, we will explore the Royal Portuguese Reading Room. You'll be captivated by its stunning neo-Gothic exterior, reminiscent of the Jerónimos Monastery in Lisbon. Inside, we will encounter remarkable works of Portuguese literature alongside exquisite examples of Manueline architecture, reflecting the beauty of historic Portuguese structures.

Pickup Information

The tour provides pickup from hotels located in the southern districts (including Leblon, Ipanema, Copacabana, Leme, Botafogo, and Flamengo) and has designated meeting points in the downtown area of Rio de Janeiro. If you are located in a different area, please reach out to us to arrange an alternative meeting location.

This service is also available from the cruise port.
