3-Day Inca Trail Hike
Day 1: Riobamba - Tres Cruces
Your adventure begins at 8 am when you will be collected from your hotel in Riobamba. The initial leg of this remarkable Inca Trail covers a vast distance of 3,728 miles (6,000 kilometers) through Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador.
The hike commences in Achupallas, a quaint village positioned at an impressive altitude of 10,826 feet (3,300 meters), where a delightful picnic lunch will be served. Following this, we will embark on 4 hours of trekking through lush meadows, ascending to a height of 12,959 feet (3,950 meters). Our campsite will be established in the vicinity of Tres Cruces, where we'll enjoy a hearty dinner.
Day 2: Achupallas - Patococha
Awake to a delightful morning! After a hearty breakfast, we will set off on a 7-hour hike towards the Cuchilla de Tres Cruces, an arid region at an elevation of 13,123 feet (4,000 meters). At this vantage point, take in the stunning sights of the Sansahuín Lagoon, while a filled food bag will be provided for your convenience.
Next, we will descend towards the Culebrillas Lagoon, renowned for its ancient Cañari folk legend. Our exploration will include the archaeological site of Paredones de Molleturo, where remnants of three Inca temples illustrate their connection with nature.
Continuing our journey, we will reach the tranquil Patococha Lagoon, where we will establish our camp for the night, enjoy dinner, and drift off under the vastness of the starlit sky.
Day 3: Patococha - Ingapirca - Riobamba
Rise and shine! Following a satisfying breakfast, we will spend 4 hours traversing the Inca Trail until we arrive at the remarkable ruins of Ingapirca, recognized as the largest Inca archaeological site in Ecuador.
Upon arrival, we will marvel at the Temple of the Sun and delve into the history of the Inca incursion into the Cañari territory, reflecting on how this is manifested in the architectural designs. After our exploration, a traditional lunch will be provided before returning to Riobamba, with your hotel arrival expected around 5 pm.
