Tour Overview

We will convene at the scheduled hour at Piazzale del Museo Borghese, located at the entrance of the gallery nestled within Villa Borghese Park, a cherished green expanse in the city. Following an introductory briefing on the park's rich history, we will proceed into the gallery.

This remarkable collection resides in a beautifully designed 17th-century villa, recognized for hosting one of the finest art collections globally and is considered one of Rome's hidden treasures. The collection was curated by Cardinal Scipione Borghese, a fervent and discerning supporter of the arts, known for his ability to recognize talent and wield influence. He was Bernini's foremost and most significant patron, and the masterpieces attest to his vision.

The sculpture rooms provide an awe-inspiring experience. Here, we will admire Bernini's Apollo and Daphne, a breathtaking marble sculpture that captures the fleeting moment of transformation with a seemingly effortless grace. Other highlights include The Rape of Proserpina, where the lifelike marble perfectly depicts Pluto's grasp on Proserpina's thigh, and Bernini's David, an energetic Baroque masterpiece poised in action. We will also encounter Antonio Canova's Venus Victorious, portraying Napoleon's sister Pauline Bonaparte as a serene Venus exuding composure.

Important information

The guide will be waiting for you with a Tourismotion sign 10 minutes before the indicated time at Piazzale del Museo Borghese, located at the entrance of the Borghese Gallery. The nearest metro stop (about a 20-minute walk away) is Barberini or bus lines 83 and 223. We don't recommend using the Spagna metro stop.

It is important to arrive at the meeting point 10 minutes in advance. Please note that Villa Borghese is a park of considerable size and the Gallery is located at one end of it. We recommend planning your trip in advance to avoid arriving late. If you arrive late, it will not be possible to join the group and no refund will be given.
Backpacks and bags must be left in the checkroom.
It is mandatory to show your ID or passport at the security checkpoint of the Gallery.
