Description

Reasons to Explore the Capitoline Museums
Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Rome's heritage with a visit to the renowned Capitoline Museums, an essential destination in the Italian capital. It holds the distinction of being among the oldest museums globally.
Upon ticket collection, prepare to be captivated by a 25-minute presentation that transports you back to Ancient Rome, setting the stage beautifully for your exploration of one of the city’s most significant art collections.
Once you enter the Capitoline Museums, roam through galleries brimming with remarkable artifacts, featuring everything from renowned sculptures to exceptional items that narrate the history of the Italian capital. Don't overlook the iconic Capitoline She-Wolf nursing Romulus and Remus, an emblematic representation of the origins of Rome.
Another highlight includes the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius, crafted in the second century AD. You'll also find stunning sculptures like Galatius dying, portraits of emperors including Constantine I, and a beautiful mosaic salvaged from Hadrian's Villa known as the Mosaic delle Colombe.
The Capitoline Museums enjoy a prime location at Piazza del Campidoglio, designed by Michelangelo himself. This setting allows for breathtaking views of the Roman Forum.
Centrale Montemartini Museum
During the booking process, you have the option to include a ticket to the Museo Centrale Montemartini, formerly Rome’s first public thermoelectric power station, now transformed into a captivating museum where classical art exists alongside industrial heritage. Within this distinctive environment, Roman sculptures are exhibited among turbines and 20th-century machinery, presenting a striking visual contrast.
