Description

Explore the world's largest Roman amphitheater through this guided tour of the Colosseum. This experience is essential for anyone visiting the capital of Italy!

Tour Overview

The guided tour of the Colosseum begins near the Colosseo metro station.

Following a brief introduction, we'll make our way inside the renowned Colosseum of Rome. This monumental structure, inaugurated in 80 A.D. and originally known as the Flavian Amphitheater, was commissioned by Emperor Titus. As we traverse part of the seating areas, you will understand why it boasts a capacity of up to 50,000 spectators, making it the largest amphitheater of its kind in the world.

Continuing the tour, we will gaze at the arena area from the stands where gladiators historically fought in brutal contests for the entertainment of countless spectators.

However, the Flavian Amphitheater was more than just a venue for gladiatorial combat. During our exploration of the Colosseum, we will uncover the diverse array of events that unfolded here, earning it a place among the 7 Wonders of the Modern World.

We will wrap up our visit outside the Colosseum, presenting an excellent opportunity for you to capture a photograph in front of one of Italy's most iconic monuments.

This tour lasts approximately between 1 hour and 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Important information

Meeting Point

Please arrive 15 minutes before the indicated time at the following point in Rome: Colosseo metro station (Line MB, the blue one). The guide will be waiting for you at the lower exit located on Via dei Fori Imperiali, between the green kiosk and the tuk-tuks, holding a sign with Tourismotion on it.

You can find the exact location of the meeting point at the following link: https://goo.gl/maps/fPwkddfiCABmAKjD8.

Additional Info

  • Please bring your original passport or European ID card (if applicable) in order to get into the monument. Photocopies are not accepted. Failure to produce an ID will result in losing your ticket.
  • It's mandatory to correctly fill in the fields for first name, surname and date of birth, which must appear exactly as they do on your ID card and must match the information on the selected ticket. In case of discrepancy, access to the monument may be denied without the possibility of a refund.
  • Due to the Colosseum's official capacity limit and ticketing system, the tour’s start time may vary by up to 3 hours. We will contact you if your reservation is affected by this change.
  • The order of the itinerary may vary to accommodate the entry time assigned to us by the Colosseum.
  • You must arrive on time at the meeting point. If you're late, it will not be possible to join the group and there will be no refund.
  • At the end of the tour, guests are required to exit the archaeological area with the guide and are not allowed to remain inside.

  • The tour does not allow cancellations due to weather conditions.
  • Please note that you can't bring large bags, big umbrellas or other bulky objects on this tour.
  • If for security reasons one or more archaeological sites cannot be visited, the money will only be reimbursed when the Colosseum determines its closure and allows the reimbursement of the tickets. If this situation is known before the tour starts, you'll be offered different alternatives.
  • This tour includes reserved tickets: you'll have priority access to the monuments by skipping the ticket office queues. During peak periods, it's not always possible to skip the line at the entrance to the monuments. In any case, the queue will be much faster than for visitors without a reserved ticket.
  • On summer days we recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, and a bottle of water.
  • This activity is not suitable for visitors in wheelchairs or those with strollers. It's also not recommended for those who have difficulty walking.
  • Disposable headphones will be provided during the tour. To be environmentally responsible and avoid this waste, we suggest bringing your own headphones.
  • This ticket is not valid for school groups. If you present this voucher at the entrance for a school group, it won't be possible to access the monument and you'll have to purchase the correct tickets, after checking availability.
  • Please note that your booking is for a guided tour with group tickets, not individual tickets. If you do not arrive at the meeting point at the scheduled time, the agency will not be able to give you your tickets, as these are for group use only and are valid at specific times.
