3-Day Pompeii, Sorrento & Capri Tour
Description
Experience a captivating 3-day excursion from Rome as we delve into the wonders of Pompeii, Sorrento, and Capri, appreciating their historical significance and breathtaking landscapes.
Trip Overview
Day 1
Your journey begins with a hotel pickup, followed by a drive along the Autostrada del Sole toward the south, where the lush Roman countryside and the Castelli Romani region unfold before you. This area is historically significant, known for the pivotal battles fought at the Montecassino Abbey during World War II.
Our first significant stop is Sorrento. Here, you will partake in a brief bus tour of the historic center, after which you can check into the hotel and take some time to relax. Enjoy the rest of your day wandering through the city at your leisure. Consider visiting Piazza Tasso, the vibrant core of Sorrento, surrounded by delightful cafés, restaurants, and neoclassical architecture.
Be sure to explore the Chiostro di San Francesco, an idyllic location characterized by its intertwining arches and picturesque sea views, perfect for savoring the essence of the Amalfi Coast. To the west lies Marina di Puolo, a charming fishing area with colorful homes that seamlessly merge with the azure waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
In the evening, dinner will be served at the hotel, allowing you to recharge for the adventures ahead. Rest well!
Day 2
Following breakfast, we’ll board a boat to Capri, arriving at the iconic Marina Grande. If the weather permits, our first highlight will be the renowned Blue Grotto, a natural sea cave known for its striking blue illumination from sunlight filtering through its opening.
Next, we’ll continue to Capri town, the bustling heart of the island. Here, you’ll have the chance for leisure strolls, visiting the famous Piazzetta, shopping for local crafts, and capturing memorable photographs.
Later, we will return to Sorrento for dinner at your hotel, concluding another wonderful day.
Day 3
After breakfast, enjoy some free time in Sorrento to immerse yourself in the local atmosphere. Around noon, we’ll make our way to Pompeii. Upon arrival, you will benefit from skipping any lines and will embark on a guided tour of the archaeological site, stepping into the historical realm of Ancient Rome. Key highlights will include the Forum, the epicenter of ancient political and social life, flanked by impressive temples and columns.
Moreover, we will visit the House of the Faun, recognized as one of the most exquisite homes in Pompeii, famed for its mosaic showcasing Alexander the Great, as well as the House of the Vettii, celebrated for its beautifully maintained frescoes of mythological themes.
Finally, following the tour, we’ll head back to Rome, with an estimated arrival time of around 8 PM in the city center or near your accommodation, depending on your preference.
