St Peter's Basilica Guided Tour + Dome Ascent
We will gather at the designated meeting point, conveniently located near the Vatican. From there, a short walk takes us to St. Peter's Square, where the impressive colonnades will greet us.
Prior to entering St. Peter's Basilica, we will provide insight into the conception of this magnificent Christian monument, highlighting the illustrious artists involved in its architecture and decoration. Every intricate detail within the square and the basilica's facade conveys a unique story.
Upon entering the basilica, we will be surrounded by an array of artistic masterpieces, including the renowned Pietà by Michelangelo and St. Peter's Baldachin by Gian Lorenzo Bernini. As we explore, you will learn fascinating facts about these treasures, and we will also visit the crypt housing the tombs of the Popes.
Following our exploration inside the basilica, we will take an elevator to the first level of St. Peter's dome.
To reach the summit of the dome, we will ascend 320 steps. The effort is rewarding, as we will be treated to breathtaking views of Rome, allowing us to see the Eternal City from an unparalleled perspective!
Once we've enjoyed the stunning panorama from the dome, we will descend back into St. Peter's Basilica, marking the end of our tour after approximately 1.5 to 2.5 hours of discovery.

- We'll go through a specific entrance and security checks, so on days with bigger crowds, it might take us longer to get into the basilica.
Additional Info
On weekends, holidays and special dates the access time and duration of the activity may be slightly affected due to the number of visitors.
Please remember that St. Peter's Basilica is a Catholic church, so it's important to be respectful of the worshippers and pilgrims who are there for religious reasons. Please keep in mind that they will get preference over guided tours.
During Holy Week, Holy Friday, Christmas and the week of 29th of June, the passage that connects the Sistine Chapel to St. Peter's Basilica can be closed for religious reasons or by decision of the Vatican State. Please keep in mind that the Basilica is free to enter and will be enterable from St. Peter's Square.
