Key Sights at the Vatican Museums

To enhance your visit, be sure to visit the following areas:

Begin your exploration at the Courtyard of the Pine Cone before proceeding into the Pio-Clementine Museum, which houses exceptional classical sculptures that laid the groundwork for the Renaissance, including the well-known Apollo Belvedere.

2. The Grand Vatican Galleries

Wander under the striking gilded ceilings and uncover the historical maps and treasures amid the Vatican's three renowned galleries:

  • Gallery of Maps: A 120-meter long corridor boasting frescoed maps that illustrate the regions of Italy as they appeared in the 16th century.
  • Gallery of Tapestries: This hall is adorned with large Flemish tapestries crafted from designs originating in Raphael's workshop.
  • Gallery of Candelabras: Noted for its elegance, this visually captivating room features grand columns and marble candelabras from the 2nd century.

3. The Sistine Chapel

The pinnacle of your experience will undoubtedly be the Sistine Chapel. Constructed in the 15th century, this chapel gained global fame due to Michelangelo's frescoes from the 16th century.
