Private Tour Details
Your adventure begins with a pickup at your Samarkand hotel at the arranged time, followed by a scenic drive to Shahrisabz, a city deeply entrenched in Uzbekistan’s history. The journey, lasting approximately an hour and a half, will take you through the picturesque Zerafshan valley, known for its lush cotton fields that play a vital role in the local economy.
Upon reaching Shahrisabz, we will set off to explore this historic site, the birthplace of national leader Amir Timur. Here, amidst the grand square named after him, we will unravel the history surrounding this notable figure. From there, we'll venture into the old town, recognized as a World Heritage Site.
As we wander through the central neighborhoods and streets that thrived during the Timurid dynasty, we’ll encounter the striking Kok Gumbaz Mosque. This stunning temple, completed in 1437, stands as the main attraction of Shahrisabz. We will take a moment to explore the area and appreciate the nearby mausoleum before continuing on our private tour.
Just a short walk from the mosque, we will explore the Hazrat-i Imam complex, which contains the tomb of Timur's firstborn son, a site rich in significance. Next, we will visit the famous White Palace, an impressive summer residence designed to be the largest structure under Timur, now in ruins but still awe-inspiring.
After soaking in the stunning vistas surrounding the palace, we will bid farewell to Shahrisabz and return to our hotels in Samarkand, with an estimated arrival time of six and a half hours after our tour commenced.
