Excursion to Villa Pehuenia

Your journey begins at 8 am with a pickup from your downtown San Martin de los Andes hotel, followed by an exploration of the breathtaking Neuquén region.

During the trip, we will traverse the town of Aluminé, continuing alongside the river for nearly 100 kilometers (62 miles). Here, we’ll embark on the renowned Pehuenia Circuit, a scenic path enveloped by forests of "pehuén" trees, as termed in the Mapuche language, connecting the stunning Lakes Pulmarí, Ñorquinco, Moquehue, and Aluminé.

Our route leads us to the stunning rim of the Batea Mahuida volcano, an inactive volcano located on the Argentina-Chile border. At nearly 2,000 meters (6,560 feet) above sea level, we'll embark on a brief hike around the crater, now a lagoon adorned with clear waters. From this vantage point, behold the striking Moquehue and Aluminé lakes below, alongside the majestic Chilean volcanoes Icalma, Sollipulli, and Villarrica – a truly breathtaking panorama!

After descending from the volcano, our journey continues towards Villa Pehuenia, where we will navigate through La Angostura, a slender corridor that links the Aluminé and Moquehue lakes.

Arriving in Villa Pehuenia, we will explore its picturesque peninsulas and bays, characterized by stunning views set against the backdrop of the Patagonian Andes. Learn intriguing insights about this village, established in the early 1990s, known for its architecture that harmoniously blends into the surrounding araucaria forests.

As our adventure concludes, we will return to San Martín de los Andes, arriving back at your hotel in the city center around 8 pm.
