Day Trip to Villa Meliquina & Filo Hua Hum Lake

Our adventure begins with a pick-up from your downtown San Martin de los Andes hotel at 2:30 PM. We'll head south along the iconic Route 40, a pathway famed for its breathtaking views of Patagonia, guiding us towards the lake district.

Our route will take us through the renowned Cordoba Pass, an alternate path to the Seven Lakes Road, offering equally remarkable vistas. As we travel south, we will encounter the picturesque Lake Meliquina.

The first highlight on our itinerary is Ruca Cura, known as the Stone House, a secluded cave site revered by the local Mapuche community. Within this space, we will observe cave paintings that are over ten thousand years old, providing a glimpse into the rich heritage of the Mapuche people. Additionally, the natural stone balcony offers spectacular views of the Caleufu River.

Continuing our exploration, we will arrive at the shores of Filo Hua Hum Lake. Here, you can take time to wander along the lake's beach or indulge in some delicious local pastries during our break by the water.

Our day will culminate with a visit to Villa Meliquina, where you will have the opportunity to capture stunning photographs of the landscape. According to local legend, visitors are encouraged to make a wish while admiring the shimmering reflections on the lake.

By 7:30 PM, we will commence our journey back to San Martin de los Andes, concluding the tour at your hotel.
