Shanghai Culinary Tour Overview
When you book your experience, you will have the option to select from different tour choices. Both begin at the Dapuqiao SML Center, include guidance from an English-speaking expert, and offer tastings of a variety of traditional dishes.
Below are the details of each culinary adventure:
Taikang & Tianzifang Experience (3 Hours)
As we commence our Shanghai adventure, our first stop will be Taikang, a vibrant market where we'll savor four dim sum varieties—delicate steamed parcels filled with unexpected flavors. Interestingly, "dim sum" translates to "touch the heart."
Following our time at the market, we will journey to Tianzifang, a maze of narrow streets that maintain the allure of historic Shanghai. Amidst the brick structures and art studios, you'll discover the nuances of tea culture and indulge in traditional desserts crafted from age-old recipes.
The tour will culminate at a noodle restaurant renowned for its ramen. Here, a demonstration of the noodle stretching technique will showcase how the dough transforms into stringy noodles before your eyes. Naturally, you’ll have the chance to taste the freshly prepared noodles, enriched by the distinct flavors of Chinese broths.
After this delightful culinary exploration, we will return to our initial meeting point, reveling in the multitude of flavors we've experienced!

Qibao Experience (3.5 Hours)
In this itinerary, we’ll begin our journey in the Qibao district, a locale that appears to be preserved in time, showcasing the essence of ancient Shanghai.
As we wander through streets adorned with red lanterns and enticing food stalls, you’ll sample genuine bites from the street food scene. Our selections will reflect seasonal ingredients as well as your personal preferences.
Next, we’ll visit a tea house where you’ll observe the cherished Chinese tea ceremony. You’ll learn how factors such as water temperature, type of leaves, and serving techniques affect the tea's aroma and flavor, culminating in a delightful tea-tasting experience.
A highlight of the tour will be our visit to a restaurant specializing in shengjian, Shanghai’s acclaimed steamed buns. You’ll witness the meticulous process of filling, rolling, and frying these buns until they achieve a crispy exterior and tantalizingly juicy interior. Enjoying a warm shengjian will surely be a memorable sensation!
Upon completion of the tour, we'll conclude our experience with farewells at the metro station in Qibao.
