We'll convene at Place Gutenberg at the designated time to kick off our guided exploration of Strasbourg. Let's begin!
Our first stop will be the Strasbourg Cathedral, where we'll delve into the story behind this magnificent monument. Did you know that it ranks among the oldest Gothic cathedrals globally?
Before we step inside, we’ll take a moment to admire the cathedral's facade. Known for its exceptionally preserved hundreds of sculptures, the Strasbourg Cathedral also boasts an imposing tower that ascends to 465 feet (142 meters) high! We will share insights into its construction history and intriguing architectural features.
Upon entering the cathedral, you'll be struck by its breathtaking design. Taking over 400 years to complete, this building impresses visitors with its stained-glass windows, magnificent organ, and expansive interiors.
We will also discuss the fascinating background of its astronomical clock, a remarkable 16th-century creation filled with symbolism and tales!
As we proceed, we’ll traverse through the alleyways of the city center and the Neighborhood of Petite France, along with the famous canals that define Alsace's capital.
Here, we’ll observe the harmonious blend of French and German architectural styles as we explore Strasbourg's intricate history.
