On this journey, you will explore the captivating landscape of the Namib desert, including the unique ancient flora found in the Welwitschia region.

Namib Desert Expedition

At the designated pickup time, a 4x4 jeep will transport you from your hotel as we embark on the Namib Desert Expedition. Departing from Swakopmund, we will make our way towards the magnificent Swakop River Canyon, also referred to as Moon Valley.

This location derives its name from the significant erosion that occurred around the Swakop River 500 million years ago. Here, you will feel as though you are gazing upon lunar craters, presenting a striking contrast to the lively city atmosphere.

Following our exploration of these fascinating rock formations and capturing some photos, we will continue our journey to the Goanikontes Oasis. Nestled in serenity, this lovely spot—originally a farm established in 1848—has since evolved into a quaint hotel where we will stop for a meal.

Afterwards, we will visit the Welwitschia, home to the Welwitschia Mirabilis. This remarkable plant, first noted by botanist Friedrich Welwitschia in 1859, can endure up to 1000 years and is superbly suited to the harsh desert environment, found primarily in Namibia and Angola.

Throughout the experience, you will have the chance to savor traditional cuisine, featuring classic Namibian dishes such as fat cookies (a type of fried dough), oshifima (a porridge made with white beans and spinach, occasionally including meat), and mopane worms (fried caterpillars).

After enjoying our meal and soaking in the spectacular scenery, we will return to the city of Swakopmund, where you will be dropped off at your hotel.
