Borjomi & Vardzia Day Trip
Description
Explore the iconic and stunning treasures of Georgia on this enriching day trip. You will visit the Vardzia monastery caves and stroll through the picturesque town of Borjomi.
Day Trip Overview
Your journey begins at Kote Abkhazi Street in Tbilisi, where we will gather at the arranged time to board a bus traveling west towards the Vardzia Monastery, approximately a three-hour drive away.
Situated in the town of Ajaltsije, this remarkable site enchants visitors with its diverse cultural heritage, featuring a church, a mosque, and a synagogue spread across seven hectares.
After one hour of exploration, we will return to the bus and proceed to Vardzia. As you approach, you will be mesmerized by the numerous caves that form this sacred destination. The monastery boasts a strong defensive character due to its location close to Turkey. Our guided tour will last an hour and a half, revealing the complex's hidden secrets and allowing you to admire the stunning frescoes within the church.
During our journey, there will also be a stop for lunch in a quaint village.
As we continue, the beautiful mountains and lush hills of the Borjomi Nature Reserve will come into view. The tour will highlight the significance of its spring waters, which you will have the opportunity to taste! We will also wander through the charming streets of this small town, visiting the Romanovs summer palace.
The day will conclude with our arrival back in Tbilisi around 10 pm.
