Kazbegi & Ananuri Castle Day Trip
Description
This excursion guides you along the Georgian Military Road to the historic Ananuri Castle, the serene Jinvali Water Reservoir, and the picturesque village of Kazbegi, nestled in the Caucasus Mountains.
Kazbegi & Ananuri Castle Day Trip
Your adventure begins at the Avlabari metro station in Tbilisi, from where we will embark on the scenic Georgian Military Road, a stunning route that traverses the Caucasus mountain range.
After approximately an hour and a half of travel, our first destination will be the Jinvali Water Reservoir, renowned for its striking turquoise waters that beautifully contrast the lush green mountains. Following this, we will proceed to the fortress of Ananuri, a historic stronghold overlooking the Aragvi River, which played a significant role in medieval conflicts.
At midday, you'll have some leisure time in Pasanauri to indulge in lunch at your own pace and sample local culinary delights. We suggest trying the khinkali, the famous Georgian dumplings that originate from this town.
Once we reconvene, our journey continues with a visit to the Russia - Georgia Friendship Monument. This impressive stone and concrete edifice provides a breathtaking view of the Devil's Valley in the Caucasus, commemorating the bicentenary of the Treaty of Georgievsk established in 1983.
Next, we will make our way to Kazbegi, a popular destination in Georgia known for its stunning location amidst the Caucasus mountains. Here, you will have the option to take a 4x4 ride up to the remarkable Gergeti Trinity Church, perched on a hill and offering stunning vistas of Mount Kazbegi, which rises to an elevation of 16,404 feet (5,000 meters).
The tour wraps up with a visit to the Rooms Hotel Kazbegi, a luxurious establishment that boasts spectacular views of Stepantsminda. After a full 10-hour day of exploration, we will bid farewell at our original meeting spot.
