Description
This journey from Tokyo to Nikko offers a chance to explore some of the region's most celebrated sites, including the Toshogu Temple, the stunning Kegon Waterfall, and picturesque Lake Chuzenji. Prepare for an enriching experience that covers the essence of this beautiful area!
Tour Details
We will commence the tour at a predetermined location in central Tokyo. From this point, we will leave the vibrant city behind as we embark on our scenic journey to Nikko. Let’s set off!
After a journey of roughly 2.5 hours by bus, we will reach our first stop. Our adventure begins as we traverse the Shinkyo Bridge, a sacred structure leading to the Toshogu Temple. This vital Shinto shrine is the final resting place of the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate, a figure of significant cultural importance in Japan.
Along the way, we’ll share intriguing insights about the various temples in Nikko, highlighting their distinct animal decorations, featuring creatures like monkeys, cats, and dragons. Following our time at the temple, we will proceed to behold the Kegon Waterfall, a magnificent cascade that is sure to mesmerize you.
We will delve into the fascinating details of Nikko’s shrines, admiring the exquisite animal motifs and uncovering the stories behind these designs. Our next stop will be the remarkable Kegon Waterfall, a natural marvel that guarantees breathtaking views.
Close to the waterfall, you will enjoy approximately an hour of free time for lunch, presenting a wonderful opportunity to indulge in authentic Japanese dishes. After replenishing your energy, we’ll head to Lake Chuzenji, a tranquil location on Nikko's outskirts that provides stunning vistas and a perfect chance for photography.
As we conclude this informative 11-hour journey, we will return to Tokyo, completing our adventure at the original meeting point.

Note that during the months of January and February, the stops at Kegon Waterfall and Lake Chuzenji will likely be swapped out for a scenic excursion to Rinnoji Temple and the Futarasan Shrine.

If you wish to get a closer view of Kegon Waterfall, an elevator is available to take you to the nearest observation area. However, the waterfall can easily be appreciated from the free vantage point where we will make a scheduled stop.
