Torremolinos Free Walking Tour
Description
Delve into the vibrant essence of one of the most renowned towns along Spain's Costa del Sol with our engaging Free Walking Tour of Torremolinos. This experience will unveil the town's historical narrative and showcase its key landmarks.
Tour Overview
We will convene at the designated meeting point next to the Los Oficios sculpture, where our adventure on the free walking tour of Torremolinos will commence. Prepare to uncover the rich history and notable monuments of this enchanting Malaga town!
Our journey begins as we head towards Calle San Miguel, noted for its pivotal role in tourism development. This iconic street has welcomed famous personalities like Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner, who have basked in the warmth and allure of Torremolinos in years past. Next, we will visit the Church of San Miguel and pause at the impressive Pimentel Tower, both of which are significant symbols representing the city. From there, we will wander into the Bajondillo neighborhood, which retains the vibrant atmosphere reminiscent of the 1960s.
The tour continues to the Centre of Touristic Interpretation, hosting a temporary exhibit that highlights critical events in Torremolinos' evolution from its early beginnings to the present day. Following that, we will pass notable locales such as Casa Suecia, Hostal Micaela, and the Tim Willoughby Volcano, which are vital to the local tourism sector.
We will then traverse through Pasaje del Peligro and arrive at Pasaje Begoña, a site that honors the memory of significant oppression against the LGTBIQ+ community, marking a crucial moment in the town’s history. At Plaza de la Nogalera, we will immerse ourselves in the lively ambiance of the 1960s, discussing the vibrant music styles of that era, including soul, funk, rock, and twist, before heading towards the renowned Pueblo Blanco, an iconic film setting.
Concluding our two-hour exploration, we will enter the stunning Casa de Los Navajas, an exquisite neo-Mudejar-style mansion, where we will conclude our tour.
