Description
Discover the enchanting center of Tortosa with this personalized tour tailored for you, your partner, family, or friends!
Exclusive Tour of Tortosa
This custom tour of Tortosa can start at your convenience, allowing you to choose the perfect moment to begin (after all, it's designed just for you!). We will meet at the impressive Castillo de la Zuda Castle, which currently hosts a Parador Nacional hotel.
After exploring the history behind this remarkable 10th-century Arabic fortress, we will head towards the historic heart of Tortosa. The journey begins along the quaint cobblestone streets that lead us to the Santa María Basilica, which you can visit at the conclusion of the tour. We will delve into the intriguing history of its façade, overlooking the Ebro River.
Next, we will navigate through the old town, observing the exteriors of iconic structures like the Reales Colegios and the Episcopal Palace. Your knowledgeable guide will share insights about life during the Renaissance era as you admire the significant buildings from that period. Among these, the renowned Oliver de Boteller Palace stands out, showcasing exquisite Gothic architecture from the 16th century.
The final segment of our guided experience unfolds along the banks of the River Ebro, where we will discuss the pivotal Battle of Ebro, a landmark event during the Spanish Civil War that occurred between July and November of 1938.
After approximately two and a half hours, we will conclude this private tour at a model of the Tortosa Cathedral. This scale representation illustrates how the exterior might have looked if the 1626 project proposed by Martí d’Avaria had been realized!
