Chiapas & Yucatan 6-Day Tour Package to Cancun
Day 1: Arrival in Tuxtla Gutiérrez - Sumidero Canyon - San Cristóbal
Upon landing at Tuxtla Gutierrez Airport, you will be welcomed and taken directly to the spectacular Sumidero Canyon, where you will experience Mexico's breathtaking natural landscapes. A 2-hour boat tour will allow you to navigate this incredible gorge, taking in the towering cliffs and vibrant rainforest along the Grijalva River while keeping an eye out for the stunning wildlife that populates the area, including crocodiles, monkeys, and various bird species.
Following the cruise, we’ll enjoy a lunch at a nearby local restaurant before proceeding to our hotel in San Cristobal de las Casas, where we will stay overnight.
Day 2: Exploring San Cristóbal de las Casas
After a hearty breakfast, we will visit the indigenous villages of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan. At a vibrant local market in San Cristóbal, you'll witness the artistry of handmade products created by locals, primarily from the Tzotzil Maya community. As we stroll through the lively streets, we will also stop at the renowned Church of San Juan Chamula, an intriguing fusion of Catholicism and indigenous practices.
In Zinacantan, a visit to a family cooperative will reveal traditional pre-Columbian waist-weaving techniques. Afterward, we will return to San Cristobal de las Casas for lunch, allowing for some well-deserved rest before enjoying the remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 3: San Cristóbal - Agua Azul Waterfalls - Palenque
After breakfast, we will depart for Palenque and en route, marvel at the stunning Agua Azul waterfalls, where you can take a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters of the natural pools.
A lunch break at a local restaurant will precede our continued journey to Palenque.
Day 4: Palenque - Yaxchilán - Palenque
Starting the day with a hearty breakfast, we will leave Palenque for Corozal. Upon arrival, you will board a shuttle bus to the ancient ruins of Yaxchilán.
This majestic Maya city, enveloped in dense jungle, is located along the Usumacinta riverbanks and dates from around 200 to 900 A.D. Together, we will explore the site and delve into the historical significance of its temples and structures.
Afterward, we will return to Palenque for lunch.
Day 5: Palenque - Campeche
Following a robust breakfast, we'll explore the extraordinary Palenque archaeological site, one of the most significant Mayan ruins, filled with remarkable architecture and sculptures. Our guided tour will take you through the iconic Temple of the Inscriptions, Palace, Temple of the Count, and Temple of the Cross, just to name a few highlights.
We'll then head to Campeche for lunch at a local establishment, followed by a guided exploration of the charming historic center. Take your time to admire its colonial architecture, including houses, churches, and remnants of the ancient city walls.
Day 6: Campeche - Izamal - Mérida
After breakfast at the hotel, we will set off to the archaeological site of Izamal, a focal point of Mayan heritage.
After our guided visit, we'll take a break for lunch and then proceed to Merida, also known as "the White City." There, you will visit landmarks such as the Government Palace, City Hall, the Cathedral, and the Casa de Montejo. Relax and prepare for our final day.
Day 7: Mérida - Chichen Itza - Cancun or Riviera Maya
On our last day, after breakfast at the hotel, we will leave Mérida in the direction of one of the New Seven Wonders of the World: Chichen Itza. Discover the rich history of the Maya civilization while exploring this monumental city and admiring its awe-inspiring structures, renowned for their size and detail. We'll visit the Great Ball Court, the infamous Skull Platform, and the Sacred Cenote, utilized in ancient rituals.
As we wrap up this incredible adventure, we will enjoy a final lunch together before heading towards Cancun or Riviera Maya for drop-off at your chosen hotel or the airport.
What Does the Tour Include?
This comprehensive Chiapas and Yucatan 6-Day Tour Package features five nights of accommodation along with five breakfasts (one being a box breakfast) and one lunch. Transportation to and from Tuxtla Gutiérrez Airport, as well as travel throughout the tour, is provided. An English-speaking guide will accompany you, and all entrance fees to the specified attractions are included.
Please ensure that your flights arrive in Tuxtla Gutiérrez prior to 1 PM on the day of your tour and that you depart from Cancun after 6:30 PM on the final tour day. If you're staying in Cancun or Riviera Maya, you will be dropped off at your hotel.

What should I pack?
We recommend bringing comfortable and light clothing, sun protection, sunglasses, a hat and mosquito repellent. It can be wet and cold in Chiapas, especially in winter, so we recommend bringing warm layers, a raincoat and umbrella.
Please be aware that there is a dress code in religious and official buildings: you should not wear sleeveless shirts, shorts, short skirts or skimpy clothing on these visits.
