Pont du Gard Aqueduct Ticket

Your entry ticket grants access to one of the most prominent Roman aqueducts in Southern France. Situated just a 30-minute drive from both Avignon and Nîmes, you can explore this remarkable structure at your own pace and delve into the surrounding site, which includes a museum, a cinema, and an open-air exhibition space.

Pont du Gard

This Roman aqueduct stands out as one of the best-preserved ancient engineering marvels in Europe. With your skip-the-line ticket, you have the opportunity to stroll along the pathway beside this magnificent stone structure that spans the Gardon River.

The Pont du Gard, recognized as a remarkable World Heritage Site, was constructed in the 1st century AD without the aid of modern machinery. Serving as an aqueduct until the 6th century, it later functioned as a toll road during the Middle Ages and a standard road from the 18th to the 20th century. Following restoration in 2000, it was returned to its original form, preserving its historical integrity.

Pont du Gard Museum

Below the arches of the Pont du Gard, the underground museum awaits. The museum features an engaging exhibition detailing the construction of this extraordinary infrastructure, which was built by around 1,000 workers and took five years to finish, weighing nearly 50,000 tonnes upon completion.

The exhibition includes various virtual reconstructions, films, and informational panels designed to enhance your understanding of Roman engineering and architectural significance.

Memories of the Garrigue

Adjacent to the Pont du Gard, you will encounter the open-air exhibition. This display emphasizes the history of Mediterranean agriculture and showcases remnants of the aqueduct.

Pont du Gard Cinema

Within the cinema at the Pont du Gard, you can view a documentary that artistically blends fact and fiction about the aqueduct.
