Day Trip to Hallstatt
On the travel day, we will gather near the Vienna State Opera before embarking on a scenic journey through the breathtaking Salzkammergut mountain region.
After approximately 3.5 hours of travel, we will reach Hallstatt, a charming village situated in the Austrian Alps that is sure to enchant you. This village served as an inspiration for the icy setting in the film Frozen, and you’ll quickly see why it resembles a fairy tale!
Guided by our expert, we’ll embark on a tour that will delve into 700 years of history, wandering through the Alpine pathways that have seen their share of significant events while appreciating the intricate architecture of the houses and the church.
Following the tour, you will have approximately 1.5 hours of leisure time to savor lunch and continue discovering the village on your own.
In the summer months, we will conclude our visit with a delightful boat ride on the lake. Alternatively, during other seasons, we will explore the Bone House within the Chapel of St. Michael. This intriguing site, notable for its collection of over 600 artistically decorated skulls, dates back to the 12th century.
Eventually, we will return to Vienna by bus, reaching the city approximately 13 hours after we began our adventure.
Day Trip to Hallstatt and Melk Abbey
For this option, we will first stop at Melk Abbey en route to Hallstatt, offering you the chance to photograph and admire this remarkable Benedictine monastery, perched on the banks of the Danube River and established in the 11th century.
The journey will then progress to Hallstatt, where you’ll enjoy 2.5 hours of free time to wander around the enchanting village at your leisure. This option comes with a digital audio guide in English for added insight during your exploration.
