At the appointed hour, we will convene in the surroundings of Hofburg Palace, the largest palace complex in the Austrian capital and the former residence of the Habsburg family. Our first stop will be the Sissi Museum, showcasing a variety of personal items belonging to the empress, offering a glimpse into her private world.

Elisabeth of Bavaria, born in Munich in 1837, hailed from the House of Wittelsbach and emerged as one of the preeminent monarchs in Europe during the late 19th century. Her story continues to captivate many; following her untimely passing in Geneva in 1898, public fascination grew, leading to numerous literary works, series, and films dedicated to her life.

A visit to the Sissi Museum within the Hofburg Palace, nestled in the imperial apartments, reveals the reasons behind Elisabeth's enduring popularity. The exhibition displays an array of her most notable gowns, jewelry, and portraits, including a dressing table, the harp she played in her youth, and even the bed in which she rested.

The permanent exhibition boasts over 300 artifacts, among which the original costumes and dresses are particularly admired by guests. Additionally, visitors can find intriguing items such as a 63-piece travel kit that accompanied the empress on her journeys, alongside a replica of the imperial train carriage used by Sissi.

Following our enriching visit to the museum, we will enjoy a brief walk around the Hofburg Palace grounds, continuing our exploration of Sissi’s fascinating history.

Ultimately, this captivating tour, lasting between 2.5 and 2 hours and 50 minutes, will conclude outside the palace grounds.
