This hiking experience presents two extraordinary paths: the Talampaya Canyon and the Quebrada Don Eduardo. You have the option to select one or both routes! Are you prepared to immerse yourself in the magnificent landscapes of La Rioja?

Upon making your reservation, you will be able to choose from the hiking trails in Talampaya National Park. Each excursion will commence at the scheduled time from the Talampaya Canyon Operational Center.

Both routes ascend to an elevation of 1300 meters (4,265 feet), though their length and levels of challenge differ:

Quebrada Don Eduardo (3 hours)

This easy hike allows us to explore the stunning sections of the captivating Quebrada Don Eduardo. This gorge is a notable feature in Talampaya National Park, named after a local mule driver.

During the hike, which lasts around 3 hours, we will look for the majestic condor soaring overhead while admiring the scenery. Our adventure kicks off with a view over the Talampaya riverbed from a rock formation known as La Catedral Gótica (The Gothic Cathedral).

Continuing on, we will appreciate the geological marvel of El Flautista and enjoy the sights from the Geological Fault viewpoint. Before concluding our trek, we will traverse the tight corridors of the famous Gothic Labyrinth.

Talampaya Canyon (3 hours)

This itinerary entails a leisurely 3-hour hike through the Talampaya Canyon, covering around 5 kilometers (3 miles) of this renowned gorge. Along the way, we will encounter the notable sandstone walls of the canyon, famed for their rich reddish color.

Our first stop will be the petroglyphs area, providing a glimpse into the archaeological and paleontological history left by the region's early settlers.

Next, we will proceed to the Awanda Cave, gaining insights into the lives of those who came before us. Our trek will conclude at the Talampaya Botanical Garden, where we will learn about the distinctive species of cacti, retamos, and carob trees thriving in this Argentine landscape.

Quebrada Don Eduardo + Talampaya Canyon (4 hours)

This low-difficulty path is perfect for experiencing the sights of both previously mentioned trails. Over the course of 4 hours, we will enjoy the key locations of these two routes while discovering the region's geological characteristics, wildlife, and native flora.

Quebrada Don Eduardo + Talampaya Canyon + Gran Mirador (5.5 hours)

This medium-difficulty option not only incorporates the attractions of the last route but also features a climb to the Gran Mirador ("great lookout point") de Talampaya. From this exceptional viewpoint, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the canyons, gorges, and geological formations that define Talampaya National Park. This is an excellent chance for photography aficionados to capture the panoramic beauty of one of the most enchanting spots in La Rioja, located in northwest Argentina.
