Description

Day Trip to Yorkshire Dales National Park
The adventure begins in Duncombe Place at a preset time as we head west toward the mesmerizing Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Our first destination is Bolton Castle, the most notable landmark in Wensleydale, historically significant for being a residence of Mary Queen of Scots. Here, you'll uncover the intriguing history of the area, soak in breathtaking vistas, and savor a traditional Yorkshire tea.
As we journey to our next location, we'll drive through the picturesque Askrigg, recognized as the fictional village of Darrowby from the beloved series All Creatures Great and Small, based on James Herriot's works.
Continuing the tour, we'll reach Hawes, where you’ll have an hour and a half to explore this charming town. You might want to stop by the Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre to taste artisanal cheeses, or visit The Dales Countryside Museum and the various quaint shops scattered around the market town. After our time in Hawes, we’ll traverse further into the Yorkshire Dales National Park, enjoying scenic drives through beautiful villages alongside the River Wharfe and making numerous stops for photos.
Our next stop is Kettlewell, known as the filming site for the movie Calendar Girls, where you can wander through the village or relax with a drink at a local establishment. We will then continue through the enchanting landscape, passing Kilnsey Crag, Grassington, and Nidderdale.
The tour concludes at Pateley Bridge, where you can visit the Guinness World Records' 'Oldest Sweet Shop in the World'.
We’ll return to York after approximately 8 hours.
