Embark on a journey to explore some of the most charming villages surrounding the city of Arequipa with this captivating Loncco Route excursion. Enveloped by stunning scenery, the picturesque towns of Yumina, Sabandía, Mollebaya, Quequeña, and Yarabamba await your discovery.

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your Arequipa hotel at 6:30 am as we set off on the intriguing Loncco Route. You will encounter scenic vistas and hidden gems within Peru, each offering a unique story to tell. Let’s delve into this remarkable experience!

Our first destination is the town of Quequeña, where we will visit the Martyrs' Museum, a significant site from the conflict between Peru and Chile, alongside the ancient petroglyphs of Guayalopo and Curlaca, which have stood the test of time for over 1500 years.

As we continue, we will uncover the tale of the Loncco, a distinguished figure from Arequipa known for his unique traits. You are bound to be intrigued!

Next, we head to the Soncomarca Hill viewpoint, which provides breathtaking views of the Arequipa terraces. You will also have the chance to visit the church of Quequeña. Continuing along the Loncco Route, we will explore Sogay with its charming square adorned with palm trees. The village is also home to beautiful ashlar houses set on hillside terraces, offering a picturesque overlook of the Yarabamba River.

Our journey will lead us to the Uzuña lagoon, nestled within Polobaya. This location, at the base of a volcanic mountain range, allows for a variety of activities such as boating, kayaking, or sport fishing. After this, you will have some free time to enjoy lunch on your own.

The next point of interest is Mollebaya, a village rich in history where remnants of the Aillus community and its curacazgo can be found. Here, we will take a brief stroll through the historical center to observe the communal batán, an old textile processing machine. Additionally, we will visit Characato, exploring its square and church with notable water springs that are truly remarkable!

Following this, we will visit key sites in Sabandía, including the church of the Virgen del Rosario and a mill, a striking 17th-century structure crafted from iconic ashlar stone.

Finally, we will make our way back to Arequipa, concluding our tour in an area close to the Plaza de Armas around 5 pm.
