Montserrat Trip & Rack Railway Train

Set off on a journey to Montserrat from Barcelona. When you reach the bottom of the holy mountain, take a traditional rack railway train ride to Montserrat Abbey, a significant religious site in Spain.

Montserrat Half-Day Trip & Rack Railway Train Ride

Leaving Barcelona by bus, we will head inland. After approximately one hour, we will board the Montserrat rack railway train. The 15-minute ride takes you to a height of almost 2,000 ft (600 m), showcasing stunning scenery.

Upon arrival at the Montserrat Sanctuary, known for its rocky surroundings, you will find it a place of worship due to the miraculous apparition of the Virgin Mary in one of the mountain's caves.

In Montserrat, meaning "mountain saw" in Catalan, we will visit the Basilica, which houses the twelfth-century ‘Virgen Moreneta’, Catalonia’s patron saint. This temple has been one of Spain’s most popular pilgrimage sites for centuries.

After touring the basilica's interior, you will have free time to taste various typical liquors from Montserrat. The tour includes free admission to Montserrat’s Espai Audio Visual Museum, which can also be visited during your free time.

We will then return to the starting point in Barcelona to conclude the tour.
