Free Walking Tour of Cadiz
Beginning at the central Plaza de San Juan de Dios, this tour offers an in-depth look at Cadiz's long history, visiting the main places of interest in this ancient Andalusian city.
In the square, you'll encounter the Town Hall, established by the Phoenicians who founded the city around 1104 BC. Your guide will share intriguing facts about the city's origins before we continue our exploration of the Pópulo neighbourhood - the oldest section of Cadiz. This area harbors some of the most significant monuments, including the Roman Theatre, the Santa Cruz Cathedral, and the Plaza de las Flores. Each monument is steeped in history, sure to impress visitors.
To experience local culture, we will visit the Mercado Central de Abastos (Central Market), renowned for its bay tuna, a delicious local specialty.
Next, we will discover the traditions of Cádiz in the Viña neighbourhood. Here lies the famous Falla theatre, an essential venue during the Carnival celebrations in Cadiz. Be ready to take plenty of photos!
The tour will then take us to La Caleta beach, a natural harbor that was once a landing site for Phoenicians, Romans, and Carthaginians. Enjoy the stunning views of this picturesque bay, framed by the castles of San Sebastián and Santa Catalina.
After two hours of exploring Cadiz, we will conclude our tour at La Caleta.
