Activity Details
Day 1: Inca Trail
The journey begins on the first day with a pickup from your accommodation in Cusco at a prearranged time, followed by a minibus ride to the Ollantaytambo Railway Station, where we will board the train to Kilometre 104. This location is one of the most iconic starting points for the short Inca Trail.
As we make our way to Chachabamba and Wiñayhuayna, you will encounter significant archaeological sites along the trail. After pausing to savor a picnic lunch, our hike will continue toward Inti Punku or The Sun Gate, where you can capture stunning photos of Machu Picchu framed by a breathtaking sunset.
In the afternoon, we’ll take a bus from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes, where a delightful dinner awaits before you settle in for the night after an exhilarating day.
Difficulty: moderate
Hike duration: 6 hours
Total distance: 12 km (7.5 miles)
Day 2: Machu Picchu
The second day commences with a buffet breakfast at the hotel in Aguas Calientes before we catch the bus to Machu Picchu. Enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of this extraordinary archaeological complex, celebrated as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. After the guided experience, you will have the opportunity to explore the ancient site independently or to ascend Huayna Picchu mountain.
We will then return to Aguas Calientes by bus, allowing you to enjoy some free time for dining and wandering the town. In the afternoon, we will regroup for the train ride back to Ollantaytambo.
