Mijas Guided Tour

The guided tour of Mijas will commence at the donkey-taxi sculpture. From this point, we will ascend via a contemporary panoramic elevator, providing stunning views of Avenida del Compás and its iconic donkey taxis.

You will be intrigued by the origins of this distinctive mode of transport! Our journey will also lead us to the Ermita de la Virgen de la Peña, a chapel carved into the rock by Mercedarian monks in the mid-16th century.

As we continue, we will pass through the Plaza de la Constitución towards the remnants of the ancient Arab wall. Wandering through the charming, whitewashed lanes, we will visit Mijas’ principal religious site, the Immaculada Concepción church, constructed on the foundations of a mosque dating back to the Andalusian period.

Before making our descent to the lower part of Mijas, we will stroll through La Muralla Park, where stunning viewpoints will offer breathtaking vistas of the Costa del Sol’s Mediterranean coastline. On our return to the town center, there may be an opportunity to witness one of the many public open-air flamenco performances that frequently occur near the shopping streets.

From the shopping district, we will proceed to Plaza de la Libertad and Málaga street, stopping at two further emblematic spots in Mijas: the San Sebastian chapel and the CAC Contemporary Art Centre (we suggest a visit at the conclusion of our tour).

This enriching experience will conclude as we return to the Plaza de la Virgen de la Peña.
