Parras de la Fuente Petroglyphs Hiking Tour

During this hiking adventure through the Irritilas petroglyphs, participants will delve into a region rich in ancestral remnants that hold immense significance in the history of Mexico.

Hike Overview

We will convene at Segunda de Abril 12A at the scheduled time. Once everyone has arrived, we will embark on a journey along the trails of Parras de la Fuente, where we will uncover the fascinating story of the ancient sun culture of Mexico.

Following a brief 20-minute drive, we will arrive in the vicinity of San Francisco del Progreso, where our walking path will guide us through the rich narrative surrounding the ancient Mexican sun culture. This name was given due to its deep symbolism associated with the sun.

As we trek through the area, we will discuss the various petroglyphs found here. Some of these symbols are abstract, lacking geometric clarity, while others feature precise geometrical designs, and others still represent human forms, handprints, footprints, and depictions of flora and fauna.

Moreover, this experience includes insight into the Nahuatlaca tribes, who documented their existence in this area through these cave paintings.

To conclude our hike, we will enjoy a traditional snack of local cuisine, featuring gorditas de harina de trigo, which are sure to delight your palate!

Ultimately, we will return to our original meeting point approximately 2.5 to 3 hours after the activity begins.
