Guangzhou Guided Tour
Description
The streets steeped in history, towering Buddhas, and a myriad of fascinating sights await you on this guided tour of Guangzhou, one of the most prominent cities in China. Every moment is crafted to leave you in awe!
Tour Variations
Upon booking, you have the option to select either a half-day or a full-day guided tour of Guangzhou. Both experiences are led by an English-speaking guide and commence from Exit B at the Beijing Road metro station.
Here are the distinct features of each option:
Half-Day Tour (3.5 Hours)
Our adventure begins with a walk along Beijing Road, a bustling pedestrian area. This path traces the central axis of ancient Guangzhou, which boasts a remarkable history spanning over 1,000 years.
Next, we will visit the Dafo Sanctuary, often referred to as the Temple of the Great Buddha. Contrary to what its title suggests, this venerated site is home to three magnificent bronze Buddhas, each measuring 6 meters (20 feet) tall and weighing 10 tons.
During our exploration, we will delve into the stories behind these statues, which were created during the Qing Dynasty and once held the title for the largest bronze figures in all of Guangdong province. Quite remarkable, isn’t it?
Our tour will conclude at the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, celebrated as one of Guangzhou's most significant traditional structures. Known as a gem of Lingnan architectural art, it is sure to captivate you!
Full-Day Tour (8 Hours)
This comprehensive tour will follow the same path as the half-day option, starting with visits to Beijing Road and the Temple of the Great Buddha.
After this, you’ll enjoy a one-hour break for lunch in the surrounding area to refuel, after which we’ll make our way to the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall to uncover its intriguing past.
The walking segment continues along Yongqing Alley, where you can explore the former home of kung fu icon Bruce Lee. This charming alley is also lined with traditional craft and ceramics shops, all recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Guangzhou.
We’ll wrap up our journey on Shamian Island, admired for its picturesque European-style architecture.
