Day Trip Overview

Your journey begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Marrakech, as we set off towards the coastal gem of El Jadida. This former Portuguese outpost will evoke the ambiance of the 16th century from the moment you arrive.

After about 3.5 hours of travel northward, we will land in El Jadida, referred to as Mazagan in Berber. Many regard it as one of the most captivating locations along the Moroccan Atlantic coast.

Upon our arrival, you'll enjoy 2 hours of personal exploration to take in the city’s sights. We will first drop you off at the magnificent Manueline Cistern, located within the fortress of El Jadida, a creation of the Portuguese designer João Castilho. The visual splendor of its arches and columns is sure to astonish you.

We suggest visiting the fortified citadel, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The city’s diverse influences are beautifully displayed through its architecture, cuisine, and way of life. As you stroll along its walls, you will trace the paths of Jews who found refuge here in the 14th century and relish stunning views of the ocean.

During your time in El Jadida, be sure to visit the Great Mosque, the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, the Jewish mausoleum, the local market, and the Andalusian Palace, which epitomizes the elegance of Moroccan design. The intricate doors, columns, tiles, and beautifully painted cedar ceilings are bound to captivate your senses.

You may also wish to wander along the inviting beaches of El Jadida, perfect for a refreshing swim in a tranquil environment, making it an ideal spot to soak in the sun and sea.

Concluding this enriching 9-hour experience, we will regroup and head back to Marrakech.
