Description

The illustrious figures of Victor Hugo, Voltaire, and Alexandre Dumas, among others, find their final resting place in the Pantheon in Paris. Explore this impressive monumental mausoleum, situated in the vibrant heart of the Latin Quarter.

Discovering the Paris Pantheon

The Latin Quarter stands out as one of the most enchanting neighborhoods in the French capital. Nestled within this artistic enclave lies the Pantheon, a magnificent neoclassical structure with a dome that rivals the greats such as St. Peter's in the Vatican and St. Paul's in London.

Within its walls, inspired by the ancient Roman Pantheon of Agrippa, visitors can admire an exceptional exhibition of wall paintings. These artworks vividly depict significant religious and historical events, including The Death of Saint Geneviève and Joan of Arc during the Siege of Orleans.

Moreover, the Pantheon houses a remarkable array of sculptural works, with standout pieces including the homage to the National Convention, as well as monuments dedicated to luminaries like Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Diderot.

An intriguing section within the monument is the crypt, which serves as one of its key attractions. Here, one can pay respects at the graves of notable French personalities, including Voltaire, Victor Hugo, Émile Zola, Marie Curie, and Louis Braille, among others.
