On this hiking route, participants will venture into the tropical landscapes of Puerto Vallarta, crossing the river before reaching the stunning Palo María Waterfall and its inviting natural pool. Let’s get hiking!

Activity Details

At the scheduled time, we’ll meet at number 363 Constitución Street, where we’ll board a public bus heading south. During the 15-minute ride, the urban surroundings will gradually transform, making way for the dense tropical jungle of inland Puerto Vallarta.

Upon arrival, the soothing sounds of the Palo María River will lead the way. We’ll embark on a hiking route filled with roots, rocks, and large foliage typical of the region. The journey will unfold beneath a lush green canopy, where sunlight filters through the treetops. Along the hiking path, participants will encounter bromeliads, tree ferns, and wild orchids adorning the landscape.

With a bit of luck, hikers may spot iguanas sunbathing on rocks and blue morpho butterflies fluttering nearby. The trail includes several river crossings, allowing for a refreshing experience as the cool water flows around ankles.

After approximately 1 hour of hiking, the gentle murmur of Palo María Waterfall will signal our approach. A breathtaking curtain of water cascades down moss-covered rocks, leading to a serene natural pool below.

Here, participants can take a moment to breathe deeply, enjoy some fresh fruit, and embrace the surrounding jungle's humid ambiance. If the weather permits, a refreshing swim in the natural pool is an exciting option.

Next, we’ll ascend the trail to a hidden viewpoint in the area. From this vantage point, sweeping views of Banderas Bay will create the perfect backdrop for a memorable farewell.

In conclusion, we’ll make our way back to the starting point in Puerto Vallarta, culminating the activity after approximately 4 hours.
