When booking, you can select from the following tour options:
2-Hour Experience
This option highlights three of the city's architectural masterpieces. We will start by appreciating the stunning Basilica of San Vitale, an exemplary showcase of early Christian artistry. Its incredible mosaics feature the renowned depictions of the emperor Justinian and empress Theodora, dating back to 532 A.C., which are truly captivating.
Next, we will head to the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia. After viewing its exterior facade, we will enter to witness its breathtaking mosaics, noted for their striking intense blue hue. These angelic figures seem to almost spring to life, wouldn’t you agree? Our final destination on this tour will be the Baptistery of Neon, celebrated for its vibrant and meticulously detailed biblical scenes.
3-Hour Experience
Selecting this extended tour allows us to visit five essential landmarks. We will begin at the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, one of the city’s oldest churches, where we will enter to admire its remarkable mosaics illustrating the life of Christ and the martyrs.
Following this, we will continue our guided exploration at the Basilica of San Vitale, the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, and the Baptistery of Neon, delving deeply into the intricate techniques and symbolism of their Byzantine artworks. The tour will culminate with a visit to the entrance of the Archiepiscopal Museum, where you can discover the Archbishop's Chapel, the final UNESCO monument featured in this itinerary.
