Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este Day Trip
Description
Take a break from the hustle and bustle of Rome and embark on a journey to explore two of Italy's most remarkable historical estates during this day trip to Tivoli. Experience the grandeur of an imperial residence alongside the renowned Renaissance gardens that promise to leave a lasting impression.
Day Trip Overview
At the arranged time, we will convene outside the Castro Pretorio metro station. From there, we will board a comfortable, air-conditioned bus for a scenic 45 to 60-minute ride to Tivoli, where our adventure begins.
Our initial destination is Hadrian's Villa (Villa Adriana), an impressive getaway created by Emperor Hadrian during the 2nd century AD. Once more expansive than the core of imperial Rome, this UNESCO World Heritage Site ranks among the most opulent and ambitious residences of the ancient era. As we stroll through the remnants of palaces, temples, baths, theaters, and pools, our guide will vividly illustrate the grandeur of the emperor's life.
Next, we will visit Villa d'Este, an exquisite example of late Renaissance architecture and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This villa, which was once inhabited by Cardinal Ippolito II d'Este, son of Lucrezia Borgia, is particularly famous for its stunning terraced gardens and enchanting water features. Highlights include the Oval Fountain, the Neptune Fountain, and the breathtaking Avenue of a Hundred Fountains, celebrated as one of the most iconic gardens in Italy.
Concluding our day, we will reboard the bus for the return journey to Rome, wrapping up our trip at the original meeting point after approximately 7 hours.

Enhance your experience with a delightful sit-down meal. If you opt for the lunch package, we will savor a traditional Italian lunch at a local restaurant in Tivoli between the visits to the two villas.
