Tafí del Valle Trip
Description
Experience the breathtaking mountain terrain of Tucumán on this remarkable journey to Tafi del Valle, where ancient indigenous cultures thrive, boasting a history that stretches back over 7000 years.
Tafí del Valle Excursion
Your adventure begins with a departure from your hotel in San Miguel de Tucumán at 8:30 am, setting off southward from the city. Our first destination is the intriguing Jesuit ruins of San José de Lules. Here, you will uncover the history of the Society of Jesus in Tucumán before we proceed along the famed Route 307.
As we traverse the stunning landscapes of Los Sosa ravine, we will encounter the striking monument known as El Chasqui or the Monument to the Indian. Situated at the base of this towering 20-foot statue honoring the region's indigenous populace, we will delve into local customs and traditions that bear the marks of pre-colonial heritage.
Continuing on to Tafí Valley, we will follow the edge of La Angostura reservoir. Our journey includes a stop at El Mollar to explore the renowned Archaeological Reserve of the Menhirs, which features over 50 ancient megalith stones believed to have been erected around 800 B.C. These stones are thought to symbolize fertility, attributed to the earliest tribes of Northwestern Argentina.
After visiting El Mollar, we will proceed to the charming town of Tafí del Valle, where you will have free time to enjoy lunch and explore key sites, including the La Banda Jesuit Complex. Later in the afternoon, we will reconvene and head to a popular viewpoint offering spectacular vistas of Tafí Valley.
Once we have savored the magnificent panoramas, we will return you to your accommodation in San Miguel de Tucumán by approximately 4:30 pm.
