Available Hiking Routes

Upon reserving your spot, you can select from four distinct hiking paths, each lasting 4 hours. All routes commence at the scheduled time and include a pickup from Rua da Esperança 14A, minibus transportation, and an English-speaking guide.

Four Lakes

If you opt for this route, you'll embark on an 8-kilometer trek that initiates between the Caldeira Negra and Comprida lagoons, two volcanic bodies of water embraced by lush native flora. From one of the scenic viewpoints, you will also catch sight of the Seca and Branca lagoons. Throughout the journey, observe various plant species including camellias, lilies, prickly pears, and oleanders. The trek concludes at Fajã Grande and Poço de Bacalhau, providing an opportunity for a rejuvenating swim.

Lajedo & Poço Ribeira do Ferreiro

This route starts in the village of Lajedo, adjacent to the municipality’s historic parish church, an exquisite 18th-century structure. From here, a 7.8-kilometer path through verdant meadows awaits. Your guide will share intriguing anecdotes about the island, including the shipwreck of the RMS Slavonia that occurred in this coastal area. The journey will lead us to Poço Ribeira do Ferreiro, a natural haven brimming with waterfalls nestled among rocks.

Ponta Ruiva & Ponta Delgada

Commencing this hike from Ponta Ruiva, we will stroll along the coastline to behold the towering cliffs and catch glimpses of the island of Corvo in the distance. Covering 8.5 kilometers, this route offers the iconic landscapes of Flores while providing knowledge about the island's fascinating heritage. We will also pass by the quaint Chapel of São João Baptista before reaching Ponta Delgada, where the adventure concludes.

Ponta Ruiva & Santa Cruz de las Flores

By choosing this option, you'll set off from Ponta Ruiva heading towards Alagoa, a picturesque bay showcasing remarkable rock formations. As part of this 8-kilometer route, you'll traverse various agricultural fields before arriving at Santa Cruz de las Flores, located in the northern part of the island.
