Srebrenica Day Trip

Our gathering point will be at Zelenih Beretki 30 at 8 am, from where we will board a bus headed towards Srebrenica, a town steeped in sorrowful events.

On this two-and-a-half-hour journey, we will traverse through the towns of Vlasenica, Milici, and Bratunac, all of which endured hardships during both World War II and the Bosnian War.

Upon arriving in Srebrenica, nestled among mountains, we will uncover the realities surrounding one of the bloodiest massacres in European history post-Second World War. This location was the site of the Srebrenica Genocide, where over 8,000 Bosnian Muslim individuals lost their lives in July 1995.

Our visit will include the Srebrenica Genocide Memorial, situated in Poto?ari. This solemn memorial was established to honor the victims and was inaugurated in September 2003 by former U.S. President Bill Clinton.

Throughout our exploration, we will discuss crucial events from the massacre, including the ineffective role of the UN, the motivations behind the Bosnian Serb general Ratko Mladi?'s directive for attack, and the international ramifications of this genocide. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to hear from a survivor who will share their harrowing experience from July 1995.

We will also visit the UN base Dutchbat as well as the Genocide Museum in Srebrenica. Following the visits, you will enjoy two hours of free time to have lunch at your convenience.

Before our return to Sarajevo, we will discuss intriguing details about Srebrenica's water, renowned for its health benefits. This heartfelt tour will conclude as we arrive back at our starting point by 4 pm.
