Kakheti Guided Tour & Wine Tasting
Description
For enthusiasts of wine, the Kakheti region in Georgia offers an enticing escape. Experience stunning landscapes, charming historic towns, and superb wines on this day tour from Tbilisi.
Kakheti Guided Tour & Wine Tasting
We'll convene in Tbilisi in the morning before embarking on our journey eastward to the lush region of Kakheti, renowned for its vast vineyards.
After approximately an hour's drive, our first destination will be a scenic town where we will participate in a bread-making masterclass. Here, you’ll learn the art of crafting traditional Georgian bread, accompanied by a delightful tasting—an ideal way to kick off our adventure!
Next, we will proceed to visit the Monastery of St Nino at Bodbe. Established in the 9th century, this significant pilgrimage site houses the tomb of St Nino, recognized for introducing Christianity to Georgia in the 4th century. The monastery also boasts stunning vistas of the Alazani Valley and the snow-dusted peaks of the Caucasus Mountains.
Our journey will then take us to the enchanting town of Signagi, perched atop a hill. As one of the most picturesque towns in Georgia, you'll enjoy some free time to explore its cobblestone streets. Marvel at the exquisite views of the Alazani Valley and the Caucasus Mountains or consider visiting the Pirosmanishvili Museum, which celebrates the works of the notable Georgian artist Nico Pirosmanishvili.
Subsequently, we will visit a local wine cellar for a tasting of seven distinctive Georgian wines, accompanied by insights into their production in Kakheti. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to sample chacha, a traditional local spirit, and participate in a customary toast. Afterward, you will be given approximately 30 minutes of free time to enjoy lunch at your leisure.
Concluding our excursion, we will return to Tbilisi, with an estimated arrival time of 6:30 pm.
