2-Day Trek to Machu Picchu
Description
Experience the allure of the Inca Trail, guiding us to the famed Machu Picchu citadel. This 2-day journey takes us through the stunning landscapes of the Peruvian Andes.
2-Day Trek to Machu Picchu
Day 1
Your adventure begins with a 6 am pickup from your hotel in Urubamba, followed by a bus ride to the Ollantaytambo train station. From there, we will board a train to kilometer 104, marking the start of this shorter section of the Inca Trail.
Upon our arrival, we will embark on a 3-hour trek towards Chachabamba and Wiñayhuayna, significant archaeological locations situated along the trail. After working up an appetite, we will pause to enjoy a delightful picnic lunch before proceeding to the Sun Gate, Inti Punko.
At this vantage point, we’ll catch our first spectacular view of Machu Picchu as we watch the sunset, allowing for memorable photographs. Following this, we will take a bus to Aguas Calientes, where accommodations await, providing rest for the upcoming day.
Day 2
We'll begin our day with breakfast at the hotel before boarding a bus that ascends to Machu Picchu. Here, a 2.5-hour guided tour awaits, where our expert guide will unveil the captivating secrets of this iconic site. We will explore the key areas of the citadel while soaking in its historical significance. Once the guided portion concludes, you will have free time to further discover the site at your own pace.
After reconvening at the designated time, we will board the bus back to Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, a train will take us back to Ollantaytambo, concluding with your drop-off at the hotel in Urubamba around 9:30 pm.
