Emerald Lagoon Hike + Lunch

Activity Details

At the scheduled time, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Ushuaia and head towards National Route 3. Just a short ride from the city, we’ll arrive at the starting point of one of the most iconic trails in Tierra del Fuego. Let the adventure begin!

With your sneakers ready, we’ll embark on a hike of approximately 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) along trails that traverse the Andean–Patagonian forest. As we proceed, Mount Olivia and Cinco Hermanos will come into view, illustrating the raw beauty of nature. We’ll walk at a relaxed pace, with pauses to hydrate, take photos, and discuss how glaciers have shaped this landscape.

Soon, the green forest will part, revealing Emerald Lagoon. Its turquoise waters, nourished by the Ojo del Albino Glacier, will sparkle under the morning light. We’ll take time to stroll along its shores and appreciate the stunning surroundings.

Next, we’ll make our way to a mountain refuge, a cozy retreat in nature’s embrace, where we’ll enjoy a delicious homemade lunch. This will include a selection of appetizers and a hearty mountain stew, paired with coffee, tea, mate, and wine. Perfect for refueling after the hike!

With renewed energy, we’ll begin the 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) return along the same path, once again surrounded by the breathtaking forests of Tierra del Fuego. Finally, we’ll reach the vehicle and return to Ushuaia, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel after a total of 6 hours of activity.

Important Info

Wearing special hiking shoes and waterproof clothing is mandatory, as they are essential for the proper development of the hike.

Children Hikers

Children are welcome to join the activity; however, please be aware that in the event of rain, snowfall, or strong winds, reservations for children under 6 years old may need to be rescheduled for safety reasons. We will contact you 1 day before the activity to confirm this.

How It Works

On this hike, you will enjoy scenic views and a delicious mountain lunch as you traverse the beautiful trails in Tierra del Fuego. The hike includes:

• Round-trip transportation from your hotel in Ushuaia.
• Guided hike to Emerald Lagoon.
• Homemade lunch at the mountain refuge.
• All necessary permits for the park.

However, it does not include personal hiking gear (shoes, clothing), and any additional meals or beverages outside of the lunch provided.
