Lucerne & Mount Rigi Day Trip
Description
Embark on an unforgettable journey to the majestic mountain of Rigi and the charming city of Lucerne, where history intertwines with stunning landscapes. This day trip offers a perfect blend of exploration and natural beauty.
Lucerne & Mount Rigi Day Trip
At the scheduled meeting time, we will gather at the Sihlquai Bus Station parking lot. From there, we will board a comfortable coach that will take us from Zürich to the quaint town of Weggis, where breathtaking vistas of Lake Lucerne await.
As we approach the area, the magnificent Mount Rigi will come into view, a prominent Alpine massif soaring to an elevation of 5,900 feet (1,800 meters). You will have 4 hours of free time to explore the summit, complemented by your tickets for the cable car and rack railway that lead to the pinnacle. Notably, this mountain railway is recognized as the first in Europe, having commenced operations in 1871.
Upon reaching the top of Mount Rigi, you will be treated to panoramic views of the picturesque lakes of Central Switzerland, and there will be various mountain restaurants available for a delightful meal.
We will descend via a different rack railway train that will take us to Vitznau. From this point, we will embark on a 4-hour boat cruise across Lake Lucerne. This serene journey on the glacial lake offers awe-inspiring views of the surrounding Alpine scenery.
The boat journey concludes in Lucerne, where you can enjoy free time to wander through the city's historic district. You will have the opportunity to explore the enchanting medieval streets and admire significant landmarks, including the Baroque Jesuit Church, the Town Hall, and the iconic Chapel Bridge, dating back to the 14th century.
After a day filled with exploration, we will return to the bus and wrap up our trip after approximately 9.5 hours, arriving back at the starting point.
