Private Excursion to Los Morillos Reserve

At 10 am, we will set off from your accommodation in Barreal aboard a spacious off-road vehicle, making a stop in a stunning Andean landscape at the base of the Ansilta Mountain Range.

This location, positioned at an elevation of over 10,000 feet, is home to the captivating Los Morrillos reserve, where we will delve into the diverse nature surrounding us. What plant species thrive here, and how do they adapt to this environment? The knowledgeable staff, associated with Fundación Vida Silvestre Argentina, will provide answers to these questions and more.

Following this informative session, we will embark on a 45-minute trek to the ancient caves of Los Morrillos, renowned for their remarkable cave paintings. These masterpieces date back 8,500 years and are among the few remaining in Argentina. The majority depict the sun or various animals, while others display abstract forms that have sparked numerous interpretations. You will learn about some of the intriguing theories connected to these artworks.

After exploring the caves, we will walk back to our starting point, where a delightful picnic awaits. This will feature the traditional Argentinean picada. Following our meal, we will continue to uncover more hidden gems of this Andean region before returning to Barreal.

As we head back, a snack will be provided, and we will ensure you are dropped off at your hotel by 6 pm.
