Day Trip to Lampa

Your adventure begins at 8 am, with a convenient pickup from your hotel in Puno, followed by a scenic 2-hour drive heading north to Lampa.

Upon arrival, we will delve into the Jesuit temple of Santiago Apostle, a key highlight of this town. Inside, a collection of religious relics awaits, including a sculpture of the Virgin of Chiquinquira, a unique crucified Christ made of leather, the silver representation of the Immaculate Conception, and the Pietà, which is a replica of Michelangelo's renowned artwork housed in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.

Next, we'll venture into the church's atrium, a spacious rectangular area bordered by eight towers, before exploring the ancient catacombs. Here, the mausoleum and its ossuary will leave you in awe, featuring walls intricately adorned with well-organized skulls and bones.

After our temple visit, we will stroll through the picturesque streets of Lampa, where we can appreciate its colonial structures, including the stunning Casona Frisancho. Our journey will lead us past the Municipality of Lampa, a magnificent construction of pink ashlar stone, and across the historic Cal y Canto bridge, one of the region's architectural jewels, admired until its recent collapse—a true testament to engineering prowess!

On our return to Puno, we will stop by a local market where you'll have the opportunity to browse and shop—perfect for picking up memorable souvenirs from your trip.

We will conclude our day and drop you off at your hotels in Puno by 3 pm.
