Colca Valley 2 Day Experience

Day 1: Arequipa - Colca Canyon - Chivay

Maximizing the first day's adventure begins with a pickup from your Arequipa accommodation at 2:30 am. We will embark on a three-hour journey through the picturesque Peruvian landscape, making our first stop at the town of Yanque to enjoy a traditional breakfast.

Continuing for another hour and a half, we will arrive at the Condor Cross, a prominent viewpoint in the Colca Valley. Here, you will witness condors soaring above, along with breathtaking panoramas of the iconic Colca Canyon, one of the world's deepest canyons!

As we continue our tour through the Colca Valley, we will stop at the charming community of Maca, greeted by locals in traditional attire. Strolling through its scenic streets, you'll come across a fascinating colonial-style church.

Our journey resumes as we pass numerous pre-Inca terraces. Curious about their historical use? Ultimately, we will arrive at the Valley's thermal springs, offering an opportunity to unwind in the soothing waters before proceeding with our exploration.

Our day's journey concludes in Chivay, the Colca Valley’s capital. After arrival, you’ll have the afternoon free to immerse yourself in the culture of this Andean town, situated at an altitude of over 9842 feet (3000 meters).

Day 2: Chivay - Apurímac River - Arequipa

The second day starts with breakfast at the hotel before we depart Chivay for the Apurímac River, located approximately two and a half hours away. Remarkably, this river marks the beginning of the Amazon River. At an elevation of 16,400 feet (5000 meters), we will take a leisurely stroll along the riverside, appreciating the unique scenery alongside native Andean birds and llamas.

You will be captivated by the crystal-clear waters of the Apurímac cascading from a rocky cliff, flowing from the Andes towards the Atlantic Ocean. The natural splendor in this area is truly mesmerizing!

Returning to Chivay around noon, you’ll have some free time to enjoy lunch at your convenience (not included). Afterwards, we will stop to admire the views from the Patapampa mountains and volcano.

Upon wrapping up our exploration, we will make our way back to Arequipa, aiming to drop you off at the city center (between Zela and Santa Catalina streets) by approximately 6 pm.

Accommodation

Your tour includes an overnight stay at Hotel Colca Llaqta or an equivalent establishment.

Hotel Pickup

On the first day, we will collect you from your accommodation within Arequipa city center. If you are located outside this area, you can join us at the Plaza de Armas, opposite the cathedral, at 2:30 am.

Entry Fees

Please note that the tour excludes the tourist ticket for entry to Colca Canyon (approximately 23 USD) and the entrance fee for the hot springs (around 6 USD).
