Kalabasha, Beit El-Wali and Kertassi Temples
Description
On this tour, we'll visit three very different temples, from the Roman era Kalabasha to mausoleums carved from the rock like Beit El-Wali, dating back to the time of Ramses II.
Itinerary
We will begin the day with a morning pickup from your boat or hotel, embarking on a journey southwards to the Aswan dam, located 20 kilometers (13 miles) from the city.
Our first stop will be the Kalabsha temple, dedicated to Mandulis, the Nubian Sun God similar to Horus. Built during the Roman period around 30 A.D., this temple measures 76 meters long and 22 meters wide, and was relocated to accommodate the Aswan dam.
The next destination is the Beit el-Wali, a small temple from the era of Ramses II, seamlessly hewn from rock and dedicated to Amon-Ra. The temple features a patio adorned with scenes depicting the military campaigns of Ramses II against the Libyans, Asians, Ethiopians, and the Kingdom of Kush.
Our final visit will be to the Kiosk of Qertassi, devoted to Isis, where the main entrance is flanked by two columns, topped by the image of the Goddess Hathor. Similar to the others, this temple was also moved for the Aswan dam.
After completing the tour, we will return you to your boat or hotel.
